The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are expected to carry higher storage capacities to accompany its $100-higher price tag than the 14 Pro pair.
Present options
All four iPhone 14 models start at the same 128GB base storage, offer 256GB and 512GB and 1TB maximum.
The sole difference between the Pro and Pro Max is the fourth tier of 1TB.
The base and Plus models max out at 512GB.
iPhone 15 Pro rumors
Korean blogger yeux1122 confirmed that the Pro models of the latest edition will max out at 2TB, saying, “This is the supplier source. The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Max models will have a new 2-tera option this time.”
Weibo poster Red Lotus Technology said that the 15 Pro models will start at 256GB instead: “The series will provide up to 2TB of storage space. Compared with the maximum storage, I hope the starting point is 256GB instead of 128GB. After all, the price has risen.”
Processor
The upcoming lineup is rumored to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A17 chip which includes a 6-core CPU and a 6-core GPU, according to leaker Unknownz21.
Seeing that the current A16 chip has a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU, the A17 will bring notable GPU improvements to the new models.
The chip will feature a 3.70GHz maximum clock rate, up from 3.46GHz in the A16 chip.
Performance could increase by 10 to 15 percent, while power consumption could be down by up to 30 percent.
However, the chip will likely feature in only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, given that it is expensive to make because the 3nm technology is new.
Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 15 models will adopt the A16 chip.
Charger change
Apple is also anticipated to introduce USB-C connectivity with the new series.
Leaked by user “fix Apple” on Twitter, on display are renders of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro Max which highlight USB-C components.
Launch
The highly anticipated launch of the latest version of the iPhone is said to take place on September 13.
Apple is allegedly deciding between September 12 and 13 for its iPhone 15 event date, with the 12th being the more likely scenario.
Internal emails are telling employees not to take time off on Wednesday, September 13, due to a “major smartphone announcement”.
The event will be in a hybrid format, comprising pre-recorded videos as well as live presentations delivered to a live audience at Apple’s campus.
Price
With the upgradation of baseline storage to 256GB, the upcoming models can be expected to cost $100 higher than its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max could see a greater price hike, anywhere between $100 and $200 over the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
However, those aiming for the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models can expect pricing to remain consistent with previous models.
