Metro Expansion Plans for Noida and Greater Noida
The NMRC has announced that construction on the much-anticipated 11.56km Metro link from Botanical Garden to Sector 142 will start within three months. This corridor, once operational, will provide seamless connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi, significantly improving transit options for commuters.

The project’s groundwork is progressing swiftly, with NMRC officials confirming that topographical surveys and soil testing will be completed in the next month. These surveys assess the landscape, including tall buildings and infrastructure, to ensure smooth Metro alignment.
Boosting Connectivity and Development
Currently, Noida and Greater Noida rely on the Aqua Line, which is not directly linked to the Delhi Metro. The new Metro extension will integrate with the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line at Botanical Garden, offering seamless travel options for daily commuters.
Additionally, NMRC has proposed another 5km Metro link from Sector 51 to Greater Noida West’s Knowledge Park-5. Both projects have been submitted for central government approval, with funding patterns expected to be finalized soon.
Strategic Importance for the Region
According to Lokesh M, CEO of Noida Authority, the new link is a priority as it will connect distant pockets of Greater Noida to Delhi and provide better transit to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. The NMRC board has sanctioned ₹2,254.35 crore for the project.
Once completed, this route will connect to Delhi’s Magenta Line, further enhancing access to the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The new corridor will include eight Metro stations: Botanical Garden, Sector 44, Sector 96, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College in Sector 91.
Additionally, a new bus terminal at Botanical Garden is under construction to improve last-mile connectivity, allowing seamless transfers between Metro and bus services.
With work set to begin soon, this Metro expansion is expected to transform Noida’s urban transit landscape, improving accessibility, reducing road congestion, and boosting economic growth in the region.
