The Delhi-Amritsar Bullet Train project, a flagship initiative by the Central Government, promises to revolutionize travel between Delhi and Amritsar. Spanning a distance of 465 km, this high-speed rail corridor aims to reduce travel time to just two hours, making stops at 15 strategically chosen stations, including Chandigarh.

Delhi To Amritsar In 2 Hours Via Train: Govt Starts Work On Bullet Train

Designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h and an operational speed of 320 km/h, the train will offer a seamless travel experience, accommodating up to 750 passengers per trip. With an average speed of 250 km/h, the project marks a significant leap forward in India’s rail infrastructure.

Land Acquisition Details

The ambitious project requires land acquisition in 343 villages across Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab. In Punjab alone, 186 villages will be affected, with notable acquisitions in districts like Jalandhar (49 villages), Ludhiana (37 villages), and Mohali (39 villages).

The Indian Infrastructure and Investment Management Agency (IIMR) is conducting meetings with affected farmers, assuring them compensation at rates five times the prevailing collector rates. This initiative is designed to ensure a smooth acquisition process while addressing farmers’ concerns. Extensive surveys by central and railway authorities are underway to facilitate the project’s progress.

Project Highlights

The bullet train project boasts impressive specifications:

  • Route Length: 465 km
  • Travel Time: Approximately 2 hours
  • Stations: 15, including Chandigarh
  • Speed: Maximum 350 km/h, operational 320 km/h, average 250 km/h
  • Passenger Capacity: 750 passengers per trip

Conclusion

The Delhi-Amritsar Bullet Train project is poised to significantly enhance connectivity in Northern India. By combining cutting-edge speed and efficiency with robust compensation measures for affected farmers, the government aims to create a transformative rail network that benefits both travelers and local communities.
