Even after repeated complaints, neither the rakhi was delivered nor returned, leaving the sister’s festive emotions deeply hurt.

Justice for a Rakhi: Court Awards Compensation in Emotional Courier Case

Determined to seek justice, Thakur approached the consumer forum with support from her lawyer, Santosh Soni. The case was heard by the forum chaired by Rajesh Koshta and member Anubha Verma, who ruled in Thakur’s favour. The court found the courier service guilty of service deficiency and ordered the company to pay a total of Rs 7,050. This includes a Rs 50 refund for the courier charge, Rs 5,000 as compensation with 6% annual interest for poor service, and Rs 2,000 towards litigation expenses. The amount must be paid within two months.

The verdict sparked widespread appreciation from the public. People lauded Thakur for treating the undelivered rakhi not merely as a logistical failure but as an emotional violation. Her persistence has been praised as a powerful gesture of sibling love. Many hailed her as a symbol of how small sentiments can carry big emotional value and that justice can prevail, even over a Rs 50 rakhi.
