Apple has officially announced that Apple Intelligence will soon be available in India. The expansion includes support for multiple languages such as French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified). Additionally, localised English support for India and Singapore will be introduced.
Apple Intelligence Rollout Timeline
Apple has confirmed that these AI-powered features will be available with the release of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 in April. Developers can already begin testing these updates before the official rollout.
Tim Cook Confirms AI Expansion to India
During Apple’s latest earnings call, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that Apple Intelligence will launch in India this April. Until now, AI-driven tools were limited to select features like the Clean Up tool. With this update, iPhone, iPad, and Mac users in India will get advanced AI capabilities such as Writing Tools, Smart Reply, and ChatGPT integration.
How to Access Apple Intelligence in India
Currently, Indian English is not supported for Apple Intelligence. However, users can still enable AI features by changing their device language settings:
- Go to Settings > General > Language & Region
- Select English (US) or another supported language
- Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence and Siri > Language
- Choose English (US) or another supported language
After making these changes, Apple will invite users to join a waitlist. Once approved, the device will download the necessary AI models, allowing users to explore Apple Intelligence.
What This Means for Indian Users
The introduction of Apple Intelligence in India is a significant step towards integrating AI into Apple’s ecosystem. Although full local support is not available yet, users can still experience advanced AI tools by adjusting their settings.
