Coldplay fans preparing for the band’s highly anticipated return to India in January 2025 may face a bigger challenge than securing concert tickets—finding affordable accommodation. The British band is set to perform at DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, as part of their “Music of the Spheres” tour. As the concert dates approach, hotel prices in Mumbai have surged dramatically, with some properties increasing rates by as much as 300%.

Coldplay Concert: Hotel Prices Increase By 300% In Mumbai

Hotels Near Concert Venue Triple Prices

Concert-goers looking to stay near the venue may be in for a shock. Hotel prices around DY Patil Stadium have skyrocketed due to overwhelming demand from Coldplay fans across the country and abroad. According to data from MakeMyTrip, The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake is charging Rs 51,500 for a room on January 18, 2025, compared to Rs 18,000 in September 2024. Similarly, Taj The Trees Mumbai has raised its rates to Rs 67,000, a steep increase from Rs 24,900.

Even luxury hotels like JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar are capitalizing on the concert weekend, with room rates jumping from Rs 28,500 in September 2024 to Rs 50,000 in January 2025. The Leela Mumbai also increased its prices, charging Rs 55,000 for rooms during the Coldplay event, compared to Rs 14,000 in September.

Fans Face Skyrocketing Costs

While concert tickets range from Rs 2,500 to Rs 35,000, the cost of accommodation may exceed the ticket prices for many fans. The surge in hotel rates is no surprise, given the massive influx of visitors expected to attend Coldplay’s first performance in India since the Global Citizen Festival in 2016. As thousands of fans flock to Mumbai, hotels are taking advantage of the demand spike, making the concert experience significantly more expensive.

Coldplay’s Triumphant Return to India

Coldplay’s return to India has generated huge excitement among fans. However, the steep increase in accommodation costs has raised concerns for those looking to attend. For many, the challenge will be managing both ticket and accommodation expenses as hotels continue to raise prices closer to the event.
