Citroen is making some moves with a new Shine top variant and also the update of much needed safety features in the Citroen C3 hatchback.
C3 hatchback, which was launched back in July 2022, is the best-selling Citroen car in India. This can be attributed to some extent to its price as it is the most affordable offering by them. However, it misses out on some basic features.
Customers have been giving some feedback, and it seems now the automaker has responded to them by adding new features to the C3 model.
Launch of Citroen C3 Shine Top Variant
A new top-spec trim called Shine, priced from Rs 7.6 lakh, ex-showroom has been launched. This model sits above the Feel variant.
The Citroen C3 Feel variant had quite a few segment-first trendsetting features like a 10” touchscreen display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, however it gave a miss to certain quality-of-life features were sorely given a miss.
When we talk about what was missing, then it includes Electrically adjustable ORVM, Rear parking camera, Day/night IRVM, 15-inch Diamond Cut Alloys, Front Fog Lamps, Rear Skid Plates, Rear Wiper & Washer, Rear defogger.
Now, all what was missing in the Feel, is now a part of the 2023 Citroen C3 Shine variant. In addition to the aforementioned, this model also gets MY CITROEN CONNECT app with 35 Smart connectivity features.
New Features in 2023 Citroen C3 Update
Citroen has also updated its C3 hatchback for MY2023. As part of this, the French automaker now made sure that the C3 now gets additional safety features.
This is on top of dual airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors. These are TPMS, ESP and hill assist.
Previously, there were not many safety features even in the top model as came with only two airbags, ABS, EBD, speed alert, child-seat anchor points and rear parking sensors.
The newer updated model offers TPMS, ESP and HA features as well.
Moving on to the new features and the value that they add, TPMS provides drivers with tyre pressure info in real time, which in turn goes a long way in ensuring optimum performance and even tyre wear prolongs mileage before replacement.
ESP (Electronic Stability Program) works alongside ABS and counteracts any slippage, understeer or oversteer, without driver inputs which in turn ensures a safer journey.
Hill assist feature is a godsend when starting the vehicle on an inclined terrain. Now look at the wonder of science as what it does is holds on to the brake even after the driver takes off their foot off the pedal, this gives headroom to go forward without rolling backward.
Brand Head of Citroën India, Saurabh Vatsa said that “We are excited to launch the new Shine variant of the Citroën C3 with the latest features that customers in this segment are aspiring for. With the new Citroën Connectivity 1.0 now on board the C3, this hatch with a twist will truly be perfect all-round package for the young and progressive customer in this competitive segment.”
The car is plonked with a sole 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine is offered in a naturally aspirated state or turbocharged state. The former develops 80 bhp and 115 Nm, mated to a 5-speed MT and the latter generates 109 bhp and 190 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual.
