Central Railway has rolled out a comprehensive plan to handle the heavy passenger traffic expected during Diwali and Chhath Puja. Starting from October 25, special trains will operate across major divisions — Mumbai, Pune, and Solapur — connecting crucial destinations in North and South India.
The initiative aims to provide relief to thousands of travelers heading home for the festivities, ensuring better accessibility and reduced overcrowding at major stations.
Mumbai Division: Services to Gorakhpur, Danapur, and Chiplun
From the Mumbai Division, four key trains will operate:
- CSMT–Gorakhpur Special (01079) departing at 22:30 hrs.
- LTT–Danapur Special (01143) at 10:30 hrs.
- LTT–Danapur Special (01017) at 12:15 hrs.
- Panvel–Chiplun Unreserved Special (01159) at 16:40 hrs.
These trains will halt at major junctions like Thane, Nashik, Bhusaval, Bhopal, and Lucknow, offering convenient connections for passengers traveling to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Pune Division: Direct Links to North India
The Pune Division will operate six festive specials, including:
- Pune–Gorakhpur (01415) at 06:50 hrs.
- Pune–Danapur (01449) at 15:30 hrs.
- Pune–Hazrat Nizamuddin (01483) at 17:30 hrs.
- Khadki–Sanganer (01407) at 09:45 hrs.
- Daund–Kalaburagi (01421) at 05:00 hrs.
- Kolhapur–Kalaburagi (01451) at 06:10 hrs.
These trains connect Maharashtra with important northern states, accommodating high demand during the festive travel season.
Solapur Division Joins with Two Key Services
From Kalaburagi, two trains will run to Daund (01422) and Kolhapur (01452), offering additional capacity for regional travelers.
