OpenAI, the company behind the ground-breaking ChatGPT, is currently working on a new social style features for ChatGPT. After the reports of a direct-message option, a new group chat feature has now leaked. It includes reactions, file uploads, image generation, and replying to specific messages.

The feature is still being developed but may be released soon. Tibor Blaho, an engineer at AIPRM, recently shared evidence showing how these group chats might work in practice.
ChatGPT Group Chats Are Coming!
Blaho shared on X the glimpse of how the ChatGPT’s group chat feature will work in the web app version. This goes on to bolster the belief that the company is actively working on making the Chabot more useful as well as collaborative. As per Blaho, there shall be a “Start a group chat” button in the top navigation bar, clicking on which would create a link to the ChatGPT group, which can be shared with others, using which anyone can join the group chat. Notably, once they do join, they shall also be able to see previous messages.
Leaked Details Reveal How ChatGPT Will Behave in Group Chats
The engineer highlighted that group chats will likely provide custom settings, enabling users to control how ChatGPT participates. This way, their personal memory and data will remain private and separate from group interactions. It was also highlighted that ChatGPT’s group chat interface will allow users to react to specific text, reply to them, upload a file, or create images within the chat.
AI shall be present all the time there and can be activated any time by the user. In simpler words, AI will be there in the chat but shall not be answering your every message until summoned.
At the moment, this feature happens to be in development stage and the general availability/release of this collaborative feature is not yet known.
