A high-level committee of Railway Officials has strongly suggested that every ticket booked must be linked with Aadhaar. It seems that the suggestion to make Aadhaar mandatory has been raised to stop ticketing fraud.

In a major embarrassment to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), it is being reported that the allegedly safe and tamper proof Aadhaar Enrollment Software has been hacked, and if being sold for mere Rs 500. If such a cracked software reaches sensitive areas, then this can cause mayhem and destruction.

In the ongoing case pertaining to privacy issues of Aadhaar which is being heard by a 5-Judge bench in Supreme Court, Govt. has admitted that Supreme Court never asked for Aadhaar linking of mobile numbers. This is a significant admission by the Govt. which was using this Supreme Court order as an excuse to enforce it.

As per the new rule, RBI has added a line that every entity under them must obtain “from an individual who is eligible for enrolment of Aadhaar”: Aadhaar, PAN Card or Form 60. Every Indian citizen can obtain Aadhaar; and hence, indirectly, it implies that Aadhaar must be obtained for all KYC.

While arguing in the case, senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, appearing for UIDAI claimed that Google wants Aadhaar to fail in India. As per the arguments made, if Aadhaar becomes a major success, then Google and other companies will be out of business, very soon.

A shocking fact is revealed that minors having Aadhaar can’t opt out, once they turn 18. This particular fact was not shared earlier. In case an 18-year-old Indian citizen, whose Bal Aadhaar is already made, can lock their Aadhaar.

With the growing restlessness over the security of Aadhaar data, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) asserted before the Supreme Court that Aadhaar data is safe, and even made a presentation about how that data is being protected.

In an unprecedented move, Supreme Court has extended Aadhaar linking deadline, indefinitely. March 31st was the earlier deadline, which Govt. had mandated, for all services which were supposed to be linked with Aadhaar.

In a major relief to thousands of aspiring doctors, engineers and professionals, the Govt. has made it clear that Aadhaar is not a mandatory requirement for any All-India exam. A five-judge Constitution bench has ordered CBSE to inform all students, that Aadhaar is not a mandatory requirement.

UIDAI has ordered all telecom operators to devise their own tools, in order to check Aadhaar-SIM linking. This decision was made after it was found that some retailers, agents are misusing their privileges, and taking biometric authentication of mobile users for other purposes.

UIDAI has declared that Bal Aadhaar will have no biometric identification, like Iris scan or fingerprint scans. However, once the kid crosses 5 years of age, then a regular Aadhaar would be issued, which will have the biometric details.

Noting the incidents where people lost their lives and were denied healthcare, UIDAI, the central nodal authority on issuing Aadhaar cards have issued a statement, clarifying that lack of Aadhaar cannot be the reason to deny essential services to anyone.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the central authority on Aadhaar cards in India has explicitly stated that plastic smart cards, disguised as Aadhaar Smart Cards are a complete waste of money, and not feasible for long-term use.
