Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), India’s largest state-run telecom operator, has initiated testing of its indigenously developed 5G technology in key locations across Delhi, including Nehru Place, Chanakyapuri, and Minto Road. This development is part of BSNL’s ambitious plan to enhance connectivity in the country and compete with private telecom giants in delivering cutting-edge mobile services.

BSNL Starts Testing 5G Network, Built 100% In India

With the increasing demand for faster internet speeds and low latency, BSNL aims to provide customers with lightning-fast 5G services once testing is completed. The company shared a video update on its official social media handle, highlighting the progress of the 5G testing phase, signaling the beginning of a new era of mobile communication in India.

BSNL 5G SIM Platform: Next-Gen Connectivity

In a move to upgrade its infrastructure, BSNL recently announced the launch of its New Generation Over-the-Air (OTA) and Universal SIM (USIM) platform. This 4G and 5G compatible platform, developed in collaboration with Pyro Holdings Pvt. Ltd., will serve BSNL customers across the country, offering unparalleled connectivity and service quality.

One of the key advantages of this platform is the flexibility it offers to mobile subscribers. BSNL customers can now select mobile numbers and replace SIMs without geographical restrictions, making the service more user-friendly. With its ongoing network upgrades, BSNL is positioning itself at the forefront of telecom innovation in India.

Massive Tower Installation Plans

BSNL’s 5G rollout is accompanied by a massive expansion of its 4G infrastructure. The company plans to install over 1,00,000 towers by March 2025, with 80,000 to be completed by October 2024. This large-scale deployment will ensure better coverage and more reliable services for millions of BSNL subscribers across the nation.

BSNL’s Revival Package and Future Plans

BSNL’s efforts to upgrade its services are backed by the government’s third revival package, amounting to Rs 89,047 crore. This package includes the allocation of 4G and 5G spectrum through equity infusion, further boosting the company’s capacity to compete in the fast-evolving telecom sector.

With these upgrades and financial support, BSNL is set to play a pivotal role in India’s digital future.
