Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has brought back its much-talked-about Rs 1 Freedom Plan, a move driven by massive user demand and strong traction during its earlier rollout. Announced through the company’s official X handle, the Freedom Offer promises “true digital freedom” for just one rupee — but with a key condition: it is exclusively for new BSNL customers.

What Does the Rs 1 Freedom Plan Offer?
The plan comes with a 30-day validity and includes benefits that rival popular entry-level plans from private operators. For just Rs 1, new BSNL users get:
- 2GB daily high-speed 4G data
- Unlimited calling across India
- National roaming coverage
- 100 free SMS per day
The offer is available in all telecom circles across the country between December 1 and December 31. Users simply need to purchase a new BSNL SIM card for Re 1 to activate the plan.
BSNL clarified that existing customers are not eligible, making this a pure acquisition campaign aimed at boosting subscriber numbers as the PSU telco prepares for a wider 4G rollout.
A Relaunch Fueled by Strong Demand
BSNL originally launched the Freedom Plan from August 1 to August 31, offering identical benefits. The overwhelming response pushed the company to extend the offer until September 15, 2025. With demand continuing, BSNL has once again brought back the plan — this time as a month-long December offer.
The Freedom Plan is part of the company’s strategy to attract new users, particularly in semi-urban and rural regions where BSNL retains a strong presence.
BSNL’s New Student-Friendly Plan: 100GB for Rs 251
Alongside the Freedom Plan, BSNL is also promoting its Student Special / Learner’s Plan, priced at Rs 251. This plan offers:
- 100GB data
- Unlimited calls
- 100 SMS/day
- 28-day validity
This offer is valid until December 13, 2025, and is targeted at students seeking affordable, high-volume data packs.
BSNL’s Network Expansion Continues
In parallel, the telecom giant has invited tenders for 10,000 new 4G towers in the Delhi telecom circle — a major step toward improving connectivity across NCR. These towers are expected to strengthen both BSNL and MTNL networks, supporting the telco’s long-awaited 4G revival.
