In a first-of-its-kind move, Blinkit has launched a quick commerce service inside Mumbai’s airport, in partnership with Adani Airport Holdings. This marks a major shift in how passengers can shop for essentials while traveling—without leaving their boarding area.

India’s First In-Terminal Quick Commerce Service
The service has been introduced at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, making it the first in-terminal quick delivery service in India.
- Currently available at Terminal 2 (domestic departures)
- Orders can be placed directly through the Blinkit app
- Deliveries are completed within minutes inside the airport
This brings the quick-commerce model—previously limited to homes—into a high-traffic travel environment.
How the Service Works
Passengers can use the Blinkit app after clearing security:
- Select their exact location (gate, lounge, etc.)
- Place an order from the app
- Receive delivery via on-ground staff inside the terminal
Orders are delivered to:
- Boarding gates
- Lounges
- Food courts and waiting areas
This eliminates the need to walk around crowded terminals searching for items.
What You Can Order
The service offers a wide range of products, including:
- Travel essentials (chargers, accessories)
- Snacks and beverages
- Books and gifts
- Personal care and baby products
In total, passengers can choose from 2,500+ items, all compliant with airport security rules.
Even permitted liquids like water and juices are available, sourced from in-terminal inventory.
Why This Move Matters
This launch is significant for both travelers and the aviation industry.
For passengers:
- Access to last-minute essentials without stress
- Saves time in a tight boarding schedule
- Potentially more pricing options than airport stores
For airports:
- New digital retail revenue stream
- Enhanced passenger experience
- Reduced dependence on traditional retail outlets
Not Available to Everyone (Yet)
The service is currently limited in scope:
- Only available in Terminal 2 domestic departures
- Access depends on location inside the airport
A wider rollout across terminals or airports may happen later.
Bigger Picture: Airports Are Becoming Digital Ecosystems
This move signals a broader trend:
- Airports evolving beyond transit hubs
- Integration of app-based services and instant delivery
- Rise of “on-demand travel experiences”
For Blinkit, it’s also a strategic expansion into high-intent, high-spending environments.
