WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging application, is introducing a new feature called video messages with its latest beta updates. This feature allows users on both iOS and Android to share short videos of up to 60 seconds with their contacts.
One notable aspect of this feature is that video messages are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only the intended recipients can access and view them.
Whatsapp’s New Feature To Introduce Video Messages
Currently, the video messages feature is being tested by a selected group of beta testers, and it will gradually roll out to more users in the coming weeks. However, it is important to note that users can only send video messages to fellow beta users who have also updated their apps.
To check if their WhatsApp application includes the video messages feature, users can simply tap the microphone button on the chat bar. If the button transforms into a video camera icon, it means the feature is available, and users can start sending short video messages. When sending or receiving a video message, users will need to enlarge the message to listen to the audio accompanying the video.
While it is not currently possible to directly forward video messages within the app, users can still save them by using screen recording methods. This is because video messages are not sent using the view once mode, allowing messages to disappear after viewing.
Whatsapp Beta Version Necessary For New Update
According to WABetaInfo, the official source for WhatsApp-related updates, when users receive a video message, they will be able to see that it was recorded recently. This adds a layer of authenticity and indicates the freshness of the content being shared.
To access the video messages feature, users will need to have compatible beta versions installed on their devices. The current compatible updates are WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.12.0.71 and WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.4. iOS users can download the latest beta version through the TestFlight app, while Android users can find it on the Google Play Store.
As WhatsApp continues to enhance its messaging experience, the introduction of video messages adds a new dimension to communication on the platform.
Users will now have the ability to express themselves through short videos, further enriching their conversations with friends, family, and colleagues. With the assurance of end-to-end encryption, users can feel confident that their video messages are secure and private.
