Two new exciting features are in the pipeline of instant messaging leader of the world, WhatsApp.
WhatsApp’s Enhanced Privacy Controls & Link Preview Settings
As per the reports and confirmations from the Android Police and WEBetaInfo, one of the feature is a privacy feature while the other feature is a new video-viewing feature within the app. The former feature shall allow the users to choose the privacy level of the links that are shared in the chats.
Some of the beta testers have already started getting the link privacy feature. This feature, which is currently under testing, shall enable the end users to choose link previews to be turned off. This means that there will be no thumbnail or any other data related to the link that shall be shown.
This new feature shall be introduced as an attempt to make the chats less cluttered as well as easy to navigate, not to forget the prevention of data leaks as well.
The beta testers can go to the Privacy > Advanced in the app’s settings menu> Disable link previews option to access this feature.
Picture-in-Picture Video Viewing by WhatsApp
Parallelly, another feature that is in development is the new video viewing feature. This feature would enable the end users to view the videos that are shared amongst contacts on the app in a picture-in-picture segment within the app.
Similar feature is already available at YouTube and Instagram videos users’ disposal.
This new feature, that will allow users to view videos sent by their contacts in a picture-in-picture mode would mean that the users can now watch a video, exiting the chat but still continue interacting in other groups or chats within WhatsApp while the video keeps playing in the smaller window.
Unlike the privacy feature which is available to the end users in beta version, this video feature is not yet available and still in development.
Notably, whenever this is made public, this feature shall be WhatsApp exclusive, and not be available on any other apps.
