Apple is reportedly developing a detachable battery for its next generation of iPhones, and it will possibly release the feature with the iPhone 16.

Big Update For iPhone Users: iPhone 16 Will Have Removable Batteries!

This action is a reaction to recent European legislation requiring cellphones sold within the EU to have readily replaceable batteries.

Apple To Introduce Removable Batteries

The European Parliament passed the regulation last year, and it also covers a number of other product categories, including electric scooters.

According to the rumor, one of the iPhone 16 series models might introduce battery technology that is simple to change.

A new EU legislation mandates that by 2027, all thin smartphones and foldables must have readily changeable batteries; this could force Apple to release the new battery technology ahead of schedule.

The most crucial component of cellphones in the past was the ease with which a new battery could be installed. At the moment, the battery on iPhones is secured by adhesive strips, which require specific tools to remove.

Apple intends to employ “electrically induced adhesive debonding,” a method that employs a little electrical shock to loosen the battery, in order to abide by the new rules. This battery release technique has been the subject of rumors since the previous winter.

The research states that even with this modification, opening an iPhone will still be difficult because of the closely screwed and attached parts.

If Apple satisfies specific requirements, such keeping at least 83% of its battery capacity after 500 charges and 80% after 1,000 charges, it may be able to avoid the new EU battery rule.

Apple Will Launch Thinniest, Lightest iPhones, iPads, MacBooks

Apple introduced the new iPad Pro in May 2024, and it has since been reported to be the smallest iPad ever—even thinner than the iPad Air.

According to Mark Gurman’s article, a Bloomberg story indicates that Apple intends to implement the “thin is in” philosophy on almost all of its devices.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a new line of gadgets that will likely be the lightest and smallest in their respective tech sector categories.

A report by The Information, which highlighted Apple’s aspirations for a slimmer product selection, has also reported on earlier rumors about thinner Apple products.
