A senior employee of a prominent IT firm in Pune has reportedly been coerced into resigning, despite over a decade of service. The Forum for IT Employees Maharashtra (FITE) has taken up the issue, claiming the act reflects a larger trend of unethical treatment of experienced staff under the guise of downsizing.

Complaint Filed with Labour Commissioner
The affected employee, considered technically sound, has approached the Labour Commissioner’s office with a formal complaint. FITE alleges that the company deliberately stopped assigning projects to the employee, making him redundant without basis.

Employee has given his 12 + years to your organisation & is this the way you are going to handel his future.#Benchpolicy of TCS looks like a tool to reduce headcount without taking into account employees…
FITE Urges State Intervention
FITE has appealed to Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Labour Minister Aakash Fundkar to take swift action. The forum has also invited other IT workers facing similar circumstances to speak up and report unethical practices.
Debate Over Skills and Ethics
While some social media users defended the company’s move as a business decision, others argued that loyalty and ethics are being eroded. FITE emphasized that the employee is technologically up to date and a victim of flawed workforce planning.
Growing Resentment in IT Sector
This case highlights growing dissatisfaction within India’s IT sector over job security, benching tactics, and workforce management. The forum warns that mass hiring followed by arbitrary layoffs is becoming a norm, risking the mental well-being and financial stability of employees.
