NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has introduced the much-anticipated Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) 3.0. The upgraded app promises a more user-friendly and intuitive experience, catering to the growing digital payment needs of Indian users.

Multilingual Support and Low-Internet Optimization
BHIM 3.0 supports more than 15 Indian languages, making digital payments accessible across diverse linguistic backgrounds. Additionally, the app is optimized for low-internet areas, ensuring seamless functionality even in regions with unstable network connections.
Bill Splitting and Family Mode
A standout feature of BHIM 3.0 is its bill-splitting capability. Users can conveniently split expenses with friends and family. Furthermore, the newly introduced Family Mode enables users to onboard family members, track shared expenses, and assign specific payments, fostering greater financial transparency.
Enhanced Financial Insights with Dashboard
The app’s new dashboard offers users a detailed overview of their monthly spending patterns. By automatically categorizing expenses, BHIM 3.0 empowers users to make informed financial decisions.
Task Assistant for Payment Management
To ensure timely payments, BHIM 3.0 includes a built-in task assistant. This feature sends reminders for pending bills linked to the app, prompts users to enable UPI Lite, and alerts them when their Lite balance is low.
Seamless In-App Payments with BHIM Vega
For merchants, BHIM 3.0 introduces BHIM Vega, an in-app payment solution that integrates with online merchant platforms. This eliminates the need for third-party apps, allowing customers to complete payments directly within BHIM 3.0.
Rollout Timeline and Vision
The phased rollout of BHIM 3.0 is set to be completed by April 2025. Ajay Kumar Choudhary, expressing the NPCI’s commitment, stated that BHIM has consistently played a pivotal role in secure and simple digital payments. The latest upgrade aims to further empower millions of users and merchants across the nation.
NBSL CEO Lalitha Nataraj emphasized that BHIM 3.0 is designed for India’s evolving digital payment landscape, ensuring safety, convenience, and financial inclusion. This initiative is expected to strengthen the country’s progress toward a digitally inclusive future.
