GCMMF said in a statement that it is revising retail prices across its product portfolio, offering customers the full benefit of the GST rate cuts effective September 22. The reduction applies to butter, ghee, paneer, cheese, chocolates, ice cream, bakery goods, frozen snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, and malt-based drinks.

Key Revisions for Consumers

Some of the major price reductions announced include:

  • Butter (100 gm pack): Reduced from ₹62 to ₹58
  • Ghee (1 litre): Reduced by ₹40, from ₹650 to ₹610
  • Processed Cheese Block (1 kg): Reduced by ₹30, to ₹545 per kg
  • Frozen Paneer (200 gm): Reduced from ₹99 to ₹95

GCMMF noted that several other product packs will also see lower MRPs across categories like UHT milk, frozen dairy, and potato-based snacks.

Boosting Dairy Consumption

Amul said the price revision will not only benefit consumers but also stimulate demand in categories like ice cream, cheese, and butter, where India’s per capita consumption remains comparatively low. “The reduction in prices will spur consumption of a wide range of dairy products, creating a large growth opportunity,” the cooperative said.

Farmers and Growth Impact

Owned by over 36 lakh farmers, GCMMF highlighted that stronger consumer demand would support higher turnover and benefit the cooperative ecosystem. By lowering MRPs, the brand expects to drive growth in both urban and semi-urban markets while expanding its footprint in packaged dairy consumption.

Industry-Wide Trend

Amul’s announcement follows Mother Dairy’s decision to cut prices on several products, including milk, butter, and paneer, from September 22. Together, the two major players are expected to make a strong impact on consumer budgets, just ahead of the festive season.
