Bharti Airtel has launched new in-flight connectivity packs for its mobile subscribers, allowing users to stay connected through calls, texts and mobile data while traveling abroad across select airlines. Prepaid and postpaid options start at ₹195 for 250MB data. Higher-end plans bundle roaming free of charge.
Entry Packs Start at ₹195, 24Hr Validity
The base in-flight roaming pack from Airtel priced at ₹195 includes 250MB mobile data, 100 outgoing call minutes to any network and 100 SMS with 24-hour validity. Two higher packs are priced at ₹295 for 500MB data and ₹595 for 1GB data with 100 mins outgoing local/national calls and 100 SMS.
All three give travelers connectivity across onboard WiFi networks of partner international carriers without paying steep charges levied traditionally for in-flight usage since regular roaming plans don’t apply.
Bundled Free with Premium Plans
Additionally, Airtel has integrated free in-flight roaming for subscribers of select premium postpaid plans above ₹3999 per month and prepaid packs above ₹2997 with unlimited domestic talktime. Earlier, travelers had to shell out heavily for data/calls.
This gives business travelers and frequent international fliers unlimited connectivity essentially with their regular mobile plans when traveling abroad without extra top-ups.
19 Airlines Across GCC, SE Asia & Europe
Airtel has currently tied up with Aeromobile to enable uninterrupted mobile usage in-flight across 19 airlines flying major global routes in Europe, West Asia and Southeast Asia. Support on more airlines and networks to be added gradually.
Dedicated customer assistance for any onboard connectivity issues is available round-the-clock via Airtel’s WhatsApp chatbot or Thanks App for real-time usage monitoring, recharges etc. Seamless connectivity thus opens up productivity.
Growth in International Travel
Airtel’s in-flight roaming solutions target the fast recovering international travel market from India, with monthly outbound passengers nearly hitting the 2 million mark again. That underscores robust demand potential for its network that aims plane connectivity experience on par with ground usage.
