Another Telecom Tariff Hike May Be Around The Corner
Mobile phone users in India may soon have to pay more for their recharge plans, as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are expected to increase tariffs by 12-15% over the next three to four months.

The expected hike is based on a report by Centrum Institutional Research, which believes the telecom industry is entering a more favourable pricing phase after market consolidation.
Market Consolidation Gives Operators More Pricing Power
According to the report, India’s telecom sector has effectively become a ‘3+1 player’ market—with Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea as the three major private operators alongside state-owned BSNL.
With fewer strong competitors than in previous years, telecom companies now have greater flexibility to improve pricing while continuing investments in network expansion and next-generation technologies.
5G Investments And Rising ARPU Driving The Move
The anticipated tariff hike is expected to help telecom operators improve their Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), a key financial metric for the industry.
Companies have been investing heavily in expanding 4G and 5G networks, acquiring spectrum, and improving digital infrastructure. Higher tariffs are expected to support these investments while strengthening profitability in an increasingly data-driven market.
Subscribers May Shift To Higher-Value Plans
Industry analysts expect the price revision to encourage more users to migrate to premium recharge plans with higher data limits and longer validity periods.
The report also suggests that leading operators such as Jio and Airtel are likely to continue gaining subscribers, while Vodafone Idea is gradually expanding its 5G footprint to improve competitiveness.
Consumers Could Soon Face Costlier Recharges
If the projected 12-15% tariff increase is implemented, prepaid and postpaid mobile plans across major operators are expected to become more expensive over the coming months. While no operator has officially announced revised tariffs, the industry outlook indicates another round of price increases could be announced before the end of the year.
Summary
Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are expected to increase mobile tariffs by 12-15% over the next three to four months, according to a research report. The anticipated hike is driven by market consolidation, rising ARPU expectations, and continued investments in 4G and 5G networks. If implemented, customers may soon have to pay more for prepaid and postpaid mobile plans.
