Airtel Removes Its Most Affordable Unlimited Plan
Bharti Airtel has discontinued its popular ₹299 prepaid recharge plan, making the ₹349 plan the company’s new entry-level unlimited prepaid option.
The ₹299 plan has been removed from both the Airtel website and the Airtel Thanks app. It had remained Airtel’s most affordable unlimited daily data plan after its price was revised from ₹249 to ₹299 last year.
₹349 Plan Replaces The ₹299 Recharge
With the withdrawal of the ₹299 pack, customers looking for unlimited calling and daily data will now have to opt for the ₹349 recharge plan.
The new entry-level plan offers 2GB high-speed data per day, unlimited local and STD calling, 100 SMS per day, and 28 days of validity. Subscribers also receive six months of Apple Music access, 12 months of Adobe Express Premium, and free Airtel Hello Tunes.
The next higher plan is the ₹399 recharge, which offers 2.5GB data per day for the same 28-day validity, along with a 28-day JioHotstar Mobile subscription.
Reports Suggest More Plans May Be Discontinued
Apart from the ₹299 recharge, reports suggest Airtel may also discontinue its ₹579 and ₹619 prepaid plans in select telecom circles.
However, these plans were still visible on Airtel’s official website at the time of the report, indicating that the rollout may be limited to specific regions or take place in phases.
Move May Improve Revenue Per User
The withdrawal of lower-priced recharge options is expected to encourage subscribers to migrate to higher-value plans. This could help Airtel improve its Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) while supporting continued investments in expanding its 4G and 5G networks.
The move also comes amid expectations that Indian telecom operators could announce another round of tariff hikes over the coming months.
