The ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has significantly disrupted aviation routes across the Middle East. In response to the crisis, Indian airlines are planning to operate 58 flights between India and the Gulf region to help stranded passengers and maintain limited air connectivity.

The move comes as several airspaces across the region remain restricted or partially closed, forcing airlines worldwide to cancel or reroute flights.

Government Steps In To Manage Flight Disruptions

India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that domestic carriers have adjusted their schedules to operate a limited number of flights despite the volatile situation. These flights are intended to facilitate travel for passengers stuck in the region and to manage essential international connections.

Authorities said the situation remains fluid and airlines are closely monitoring safety conditions before confirming further operations.

Airlines Operating The Flights

According to government data, the planned flights include services by several major Indian carriers:

  • 30 flights by IndiGo
  • 23 flights by Air India and Air India Express combined
  • Additional services from other airlines where possible.

Foreign airlines are also operating limited flights between India and Gulf destinations, depending on airspace availability and safety assessments.

Conflict Impacting Global Aviation

The Middle East crisis has already caused severe disruption to global air travel. Several international routes that normally pass through Iran, Iraq and nearby airspace corridors have been closed or restricted, forcing airlines to cancel or reroute flights.

The disruption has affected not only India-bound flights but also many international routes connecting Asia, Europe and North America, since the region serves as a key global aviation corridor.

Thousands of Flights Already Cancelled

The aviation crisis has led to large-scale cancellations across multiple airlines. Officials reported that over 1,200 flights operated by Indian carriers and hundreds more by foreign airlines have been cancelled due to the ongoing tensions.

These disruptions have left many passengers stranded in airports across the Middle East and other regions.

Authorities Monitoring The Situation

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said it is continuously monitoring the evolving airspace conditions and coordinating with airlines to ensure passenger safety. If the geopolitical situation worsens, additional cancellations or route changes may occur.

For now, the planned 58 flights represent a calibrated effort to restore limited travel while ensuring safety, as airlines navigate one of the most challenging aviation situations in recent years.
