A week after the tragic crash of an Air India Boeing 787 aircraft that claimed at least 270 lives, the airline has issued a detailed update on international flights that will either be suspended or see reduced frequency until July 15, 2025. The crash has prompted the Tata-owned airline to initiate comprehensive safety inspections on all Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft.

Among the fully suspended routes are Delhi–Nairobi (4x weekly), Amritsar–London Gatwick (3x weekly), and Goa (Mopa)–London Gatwick (3x weekly). These suspensions are effective from June 21 and will remain in place through mid-July.
Reduced Services on North America, Europe, and Australia Routes
Alongside full suspensions, several long-haul international routes are being scaled back. Flights between Delhi and North American destinations such as Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, and San Francisco will operate at reduced frequencies. For instance, Delhi–Toronto flights will drop from 13 to 7 per week, while Delhi–Chicago will run only 3 times a week instead of 7.
Europe-bound services from Delhi to cities like Milan, Paris, Vienna, and Amsterdam are also affected. Similarly, Delhi–Melbourne and Delhi–Sydney will be reduced from 7x to 5x weekly.
Voluntary Safety Checks and Passenger Support
Air India emphasized that these reductions are part of a voluntary move to carry out enhanced pre-flight safety inspections after directives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The airline cited both these safety measures and additional flight durations due to Middle East airspace restrictions as reasons for the temporary schedule changes.
The airline has assured passengers of proactive support, offering free rescheduling, alternate flight options, or full refunds.
