Starting from the 2026 academic year, students as young as four will begin learning AI concepts, replacing crayons and storybooks with interactive tech-based learning experiences.

This groundbreaking decision was shared by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. What Will Students Learn
The AI curriculum will cover a wide range of topics including foundational concepts, data and algorithms, ethical AI practices, innovation, project design, and real-world applications. Each module will be adapted to suit the student’s age and learning level. For kindergartners, lessons will use visual tools and playful activities to introduce basic concepts.
A Three-Stage Curriculum Plan
The AI subject will be rolled out in three structured phases.
- In the first stage, students will learn to differentiate between human and machine behavior, develop digital thinking, and explore simple AI use cases.
- The second stage will introduce algorithm design, bias in AI systems, and responsible tech usage.
- In the final stage, students will engage in command engineering and tackle simulated real-world challenges.
Teachers and Tools for AI Learning
Specially trained teachers will lead these AI classes. The Ministry of Education will provide detailed lesson plans and guides to help instructors implement the curriculum effectively.
