Recently, Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled its Thar.e, Global Pik Up concepts and the OJA tractor range at its Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa.
In addition to these, the company has also announced the launch timelines of its four upcoming electric SUVs- XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 along with other details.
During this event, the Mumbai headquartered automotive leader has also revealed its new logo which will be used in its upcoming range of electric SUVs.
Mahindra Electric SUVs Powertrain and Battery
According to Mahindra, it’s all the upcoming electric SUVs will be based on the INGLO platform.
The Indian automotive leader has revealed the specifications of the electric motors during the event.
Further unveiling the three motors which will be powering the future models.
The XUV.e will use the motor sourced from Valeo and it will generate 170 kW (231 hp) power and 380 Nm torque, Mahindra said.
In case of the Mahindra BE.05 and BE.07, these electric SUVs will use front and rear-mounted motors, said the sources.
Here, the front axle-mounted motor will produce a power of 80 kW (109 hp) and a torque of 135 Nm.
At the same time, the rear axle-mounted motor will generate a power of 210 kW (286 hp) and a torque of 535 Nm.
The brand explained that these powertrains have been tested already.
For the battery pack, the manufacturer also revealed a 79 kWh using LFP cells battery, which will be beneficial over the LFP apps available in the market today.
Interestingly, the battery pack is claimed to be juiced up from 0-80% in just 39 minutes.
Mahindra Electric SUVs Launch Date
The brand confirmed that the Mahindra XUV.e8 will
launch in December 2024.
This electric SUV will be based on the ICE part of the Mahindra XUV700.
Next comes the Mahindra XUV.e9 which will launch in April 2025 and will share the interior and powertrain with the XUV.e8.
The electric coupe SUV, the BE.05 which comes from the Mahindra Born Electric SUV range, will be launched in October 2025.
After that Mahindra BE.07 will be launched in April 2026.
Mahindra Electric XUV Collaboration With A R Rahman
In a recent update, the Mahindra Electric Automobiles Ltd. (MEAL), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra also unveiled a new sonic identity in collaboration with Indian musical composer A R Rahman.
For its new range of electric vehicles, the brand’s sonic identity was unveiled along with Mahindra’s new visual identity.
Its sonic identity encompasses over 75 unique sounds tailored for Mahindra’s forthcoming global electric SUVs. Basically, these sounds include interior and exterior drive sounds, experience zone modes, infotainment cues, and functional signals, such as seat-belt alerts and turn indicators.
It is noteworthy here that each sound has been meticulously crafted to align with Mahindra’s brand and connect with the customers through music and lifestyle.
According to Mahindra, these sonic compositions were developed after Rahman spent time at Mahindra’s testing facility in Kanchipuram.
Moving ahead, the Dolby Atmos will be integrated into the driving experience with a 360 degree surround sound solution from HARMAN.
The upcoming electric SUVs will feature a factory of soundscapes that will be complemented by visual enhancements such as active ambient lighting and high-resolution animations.
