After more than three decades, Mumbai is finally getting a new rail terminus. The Jogeshwari Terminus, located near the Ram Mandir suburban station, is scheduled for completion by late 2025 and aims to ease the heavy load on key existing terminals like Dadar, Bandra, and Mumbai Central.

Key Highlights of Jogeshwari Terminus
- First new terminus since 1991’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)
- Estimated construction cost: ₹76.84 crore
- Strategic location: Adjacent to Ram Mandir station for better connectivity
- Will have three platforms, with Phase 1 covering Platforms 2 and 3
- A 6-metre-wide foot overbridge with escalators and lifts will connect it to Ram Mandir station
- Additional 12-metre-wide foot overbridge connecting all platforms
Passenger Comforts and Modern Facilities
Jogeshwari Terminus has been designed to enhance commuter experience with:
- Capacity for 24-coach trains
- Two berthing lines for parking and an additional shunting line
- AC VIP and general waiting lounges with showers, toilets, mobile charging, and pantry
- Gender-segregated dormitories with six beds each
- Proposed food plaza and entertainment zone
- Dedicated zones for cabs, autos, and parking for smooth drop-offs and pickups
A Big Boost for Mumbai’s Western Rail Corridor
With the city’s population and rail usage continuing to surge, the Jogeshwari Terminus is expected to relieve critical pressure on the suburban and long-distance train systems. It will serve as a key node in improving travel efficiency for thousands of daily passengers.
What’s Next?
Construction is on track for a October-November 2025 opening, and Mumbaikars are eagerly awaiting this long-overdue addition to the city’s aging rail infrastructure.
