Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max in September 2025, and early leaks hint at some of the most exciting upgrades in years. From design tweaks to hardware boosts, here are nine major updates we can expect in Apple’s upcoming flagship models.

1. Aluminium Frame & Sky Blue Finish
The iPhone 17 Pro may ditch the titanium frame for a lighter aluminium build. A new Sky Blue colour variant, inspired by the MacBook Air, is also expected to join the lineup. This change aims to balance aesthetics with improved thermal management.
2. A19 Pro Chip With 12GB RAM
Apple will reportedly debut its A19 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process. Combined with 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB in the iPhone 16 Pro, users can expect smoother multitasking and better support for Apple Intelligence features.
3. Lower Apple Logo & Faster MagSafe
The iconic Apple logo may be placed slightly lower to accommodate a redesigned MagSafe magnet layout. This could enable faster wireless charging with the next-gen MagSafe Charger.
4. Rectangular Camera Module With 48MP Telephoto
The rear camera housing may see a new rectangular design with rounded edges, while still keeping the classic triangular lens arrangement. A major highlight is the potential shift to a 48MP Telephoto lens, a big leap from the previous 12MP.
5. Upgraded Front Camera & Dual Video
All iPhone 17 models may receive a 24MP front camera, doubling the resolution from the iPhone 16 series. Dual video recording (front and back cameras at once) and support for 8K video capture are also likely.
6. Vapor Chamber Cooling
To tackle heating during intensive tasks like gaming, Apple may add vapor chamber cooling to the iPhone 17 Pro models, enhancing thermal performance significantly.
7. Wi-Fi 7 With Apple’s Own Chip
Apple plans to replace Broadcom with its in-house Wi-Fi 7 chip for better speed and lower latency—ideal for future-proof wireless connectivity.
8. Larger Battery in iPhone 17 Pro Max
A slightly thicker design in the iPhone 17 Pro Max could make room for a bigger battery, promising longer usage between charges.
9. Improved Durability With New Glass-Aluminium Back
A redesigned back panel made of aluminium and glass aims to improve durability while maintaining the iPhone’s sleek feel.
