MahaMetro has submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Nigdi to Chakan Metro Corridor via Wakad to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Once completed, this corridor is expected to connect nearly 75% of Pimpri-Chinchwad to the metro network, improving public transportation and reducing road congestion.
MahaMetro Submits DPR for Proposed Nigdi–Chakan Metro Corridor via Wakad to PCMC
The DPR proposes a 35–40 km corridor starting from Nigdi’s Bhakti-Shakti Chowk and ending at Chakan, covering high-density residential, IT, and industrial zones.
The route will pass through major areas including Ravet, Punawale, Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, Pimple Gurav, Nashik Phata, Bhosari, and Moshi.
Nashik Phata will serve as a key junction, connecting commuters to Bhosari, Chakan, the Dapodi–Nigdi metro line, and Pune city.
Bhakti-Shakti Chowk will function as a major interchange station linking multiple city sectors, including Ravet and Wakad, to Chakan.
Pimpri-Chinchwad’s population has exceeded three million and continues to grow rapidly.
New Metro Line to Serve Growing Travel Demand on Bhakti-Shakti–Chakan Corridor
The new metro line is aimed at meeting rising travel demand along the Bhakti-Shakti to Chakan corridor, important for industrial, educational, and residential commuting.
The extension is expected to ease daily traffic congestion and accelerate socio-economic development in the connected areas.
After PCMC’s general body approves the DPR, it will be sent to the state government, and then to the central government, for final approval.
Construction will begin once all approvals are secured.
The proposed route is: Nigdi Bhakti-Shakti Chowk → Ravet → Mukai Chowk → Punawale → Bhumkar Chowk (Wakad) → Bhujbal Chowk → Wakad → Pimple Saudagar → Pimple Gurav → Nashik Phata → Bhosari → Moshi → Chakan.
The Nigdi to Chakan Metro Corridor is expected to transform Pimpri-Chinchwad’s transport system, offering faster, greener, and more efficient travel for lakhs of daily commuters.
