The newly formed NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has launched an ambitious welfare initiative titled ‘Talliki Vandanam’—a direct financial assistance scheme for mothers with school-going children.

A Key Pillar of the ‘Super Six’ Promises

The ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme is one of the major welfare commitments under Naidu’s ‘Super Six’ agenda. As per the official order, the government will provide Rs 15,000 per year per child to every eligible mother or guardian whose children are studying from Class I to Class XII.

This financial aid is applicable irrespective of the number of children in a household, making it a significant support system for families across the state.

Empowering Mothers, Boosting Education

The core objective of the scheme is to empower mothers by recognising their essential role in their children’s education. By directly involving mothers, the government aims to create a more inclusive and participative educational environment.

According to Kona Sasidhar, Secretary to the Government, this scheme will enhance access to education and improve learning outcomes by encouraging consistent school attendance and reducing dropout rates.

Over 67 Lakh Students and 43 Lakh Mothers to Benefit

The scale of the scheme is massive—more than 67 lakh students and 43 lakh mothers are expected to benefit. The government has even included expected enrollments into Class I and junior intermediate levels to expand the reach of this welfare initiative.

Rs 2000 Deduction for Educational Ecosystem Development

Out of the annual Rs 15,000 aid, Rs 2,000 will be deducted at source to fund improvements in school infrastructure, hygiene, and sanitation. This strategic allocation aims to build a more robust educational ecosystem for all.

Inclusive Across School Types

The scheme is not limited to government schools. It extends to private aided and unaided schools and junior colleges, making it truly universal in scope.

Implementation Timeline

The state government has fixed a timeline between June 12 and July 5 for disbursing the funds and completing the implementation process.

A Step Toward Demographic Management

The government also sees ‘Talliki Vandanam’ as a long-term strategy for demographic management, encouraging larger families while ensuring quality education.

With its wide reach and ambitious vision, ‘Talliki Vandanam’ is set to become a transformative welfare measure in Andhra Pradesh
