In a major push to enhance railway infrastructure in Bihar, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced the addition of four more semi-high-speed Amrit Bharat Express trains. This expansion brings the total number of Amrit Bharat Express trains in India to seven, with five of them originating from Bihar.

Routes and Frequency
According to the Railway Board’s Executive Director of Information and Publicity, Dilip Kumar, the newly announced trains include a daily Patna-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express. This will be the first Amrit Bharat Express to run daily, as previous services have operated only on a weekly basis. The other new routes include:
- Darbhanga to Gomti Nagar (weekly)
- Malda Town via Kiul to Lucknow (weekly)
- Saharsa to Amritsar (weekly)
These trains are aimed at improving regional connectivity and making travel more accessible and comfortable for the general public.
Design and Affordability
Officials highlighted that the Amrit Bharat Express is designed with affordability and comfort in mind. While offering features similar to those found in the Vande Bharat Express—such as modern interiors and better seating—the Amrit Bharat trains are priced to be accessible to the average commuter.
“The tickets will be affordable, and the train design will offer a comfortable travel experience. We want all segments of society to benefit,” said Dilip Kumar.
Broader Vision
The announcement was made during Minister Vaishnaw’s recent visit to Bihar, where he also laid the foundation stone for infrastructure projects worth ₹17.30 crore at Karpoorigram Station under the Samastipur division. During his visit, he reviewed key passenger facilities at Digha Bridge Halt, directing officials to prioritize safety, cleanliness, lighting, and security.
Vaishnaw emphasized that providing a modern and safe travel experience is a top priority for Indian Railways. His visit signals the government’s continued commitment to upgrading the nation’s railway network, especially in underserved regions like Bihar.
Conclusion
With five Amrit Bharat Express trains now originating from Bihar, the state is emerging as a key focus area for Indian Railways. These new routes promise not only improved connectivity but also a more modern and inclusive travel experience for thousands of daily commuters.
