The routine visa appointments for all categories has been resumed by the US Consulate General in Mumbai. These were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Efforts to Expedite Visa Processing and Address Backlogs at US Consulate General Mumbai
With the prime goal of reducing the delays in the visa processing for those individuals who intent to travel to the US, the change includes scheduling new appointments and the acceptance of 221(g) submissions.
As per the Immigrant Visa Unit at the US Consulate General Mumbai, all those applicants who got their appointments cancelled during the pandemic have been given the instructions to reschedule.
With the motive to address these backlog of applications, these are intended to assist those whose travel plans were disrupted.
In addition to the above, the 221(g) submissions for all visa categories are now being accepted by the Consulate. In order to ensure a smoother visa approval process, this process allows the applicants to submit any additional documents required for their visa applications.
Immigrant Visa Sponsorship and Application Process in the United States
Those who are seeking immigrant visas, the process of the same involves being sponsored by either a US citizen or lawful permanent resident or by a prospective US employer with an approved petition from USCIS.
Once the petition is approved by USCIS and pre-processing with the National Visa Center (NVC) is complete, the instructions followed by further guidance can be seeked by the NVC and the Consulate’s website.
Those who are selected in the Diversity Visa Lottery, shall also be provided instructions by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC).
