Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming electric MPV, believed to be internally codenamed YMC, has been spotted testing again, revealing fresh details about its exterior design and cabin. The upcoming model is expected to become the company’s first three-row electric vehicle, targeting families looking for a practical electric vehicle with additional seating space.

The latest spy shots offer a clearer look at the front fascia, side profile and rear lighting arrangement, along with an initial glimpse of the dashboard. The electric MPV is expected to arrive in India in 2027, although Maruti Suzuki has not officially confirmed its launch date or final specifications.

New Front Design and NEXA-Inspired Lighting

The latest images reveal a relatively short bonnet, a broad front section and a large windscreen. The front fascia features illuminated elements positioned towards the outer edges, with multiple stacked lighting sections giving the test vehicle a distinctive appearance.

Camouflage continues to conceal parts of the headlamp arrangement and grille, so the final production design remains uncertain.

The lighting signature appears inspired by the NEXTré design language seen on other Nexa models, including the Baleno and Fronx. Similar segmented elements are visible at the rear, potentially giving the electric MPV a coordinated lighting identity.

The rear features a broad tailgate, upright glass, a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper and bumper-mounted reflectors. A connected tail-light strip remains possible, although the central section is still covered by camouflage.

First Look Inside the Cabin

The latest spy images provide an initial glimpse of the dashboard. The layout appears similar to the one found in the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, strengthening speculation that the two vehicles could share underlying architecture and certain components.

The dashboard appears designed to accommodate an infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument display. However, the photographs do not reveal the final screen sizes, equipment list or complete cabin layout.

As a family-focused MPV, the YMC is expected to prioritise cabin space and practicality. Its long roofline, large rear doors and extended rear section suggest that a third row could be accommodated.

Whether Maruti Suzuki will offer multiple seating configurations remains unconfirmed.

Platform and Battery Details

The upcoming electric MPV is widely believed to share its platform with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, potentially using the Heartect-e architecture, also referred to as the 27PL platform.

It could also share battery and motor technology with the electric SUV. The e Vitara is available with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options, but Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed whether the same configurations will be offered in the MPV.

Because the YMC is expected to be larger and designed to carry more passengers, its driving range could differ from that of the e Vitara. Any battery capacity, power output or range figures for the MPV should therefore be treated as estimates until official specifications are released.

Expected Launch and Market Positioning

The electric MPV is expected to launch in India during 2027, although the final schedule remains unconfirmed. It could be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealership network, but the company has not officially announced its name or retail positioning.

The model would expand Maruti Suzuki’s electric vehicle portfolio beyond the e Vitara and give the company an entry into the growing market for family-oriented electric vehicles.

A Toyota-badged derivative could also follow, according to automotive reports, potentially extending the vehicle’s reach through the two companies’ existing partnership.

What to Expect

The latest sightings suggest that development is progressing, with more of the exterior and cabin becoming visible during road testing. However, pricing, charging speeds, final battery options, safety equipment and the official name remain unknown.

More details are likely to emerge as the vehicle moves closer to production and launch.

Summary

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming YMC electric MPV has been spotted testing with a clearer front design, segmented lighting elements and a first glimpse of its dashboard. Expected to launch in India in 2027, the three-row EV could share its platform and battery technology with the e Vitara. Maruti Suzuki has yet to confirm its name, specifications, range, pricing or launch date.
