When it comes to WhatsApp, it is one of the most popular instant messaging platforms in the world as it is being used by more than 2 billion users across the globe.
Most Frequently Updated Apps
The reason behind its successful adaptation is it happens to be one of the most frequently updated apps of all time.
Now, the platform is testing a new feature that will let users edit messages up to 15 minutes after they are sent, according to a recent report by WABetaInfo.
This is similar to how the edit button works on Apple’s iMessage app.
Reportedly, the messaging App is working on a feature that will give users up to 15 minutes to edit their messages to fix errors, if any,
The user can also add additional information to the original message.
Besides this, the Meta-owned platform will also show a message if the feature is not supported by the WhatsApp version on your smartphone.
How Does It Work?
WhatsApp news tracker WABetaInfo shared a screenshot regarding the same.
According to this image, if you are using an older version of the instant messaging service that is not compatible with this ability, users will get the message ‘You can see the edited message if you’re on the latest version of WhatsApp.’
In case you see this, you must update your version of WhatsApp to the most recent update available on the App Store or TestFlight.
WABetaInfo said, WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.4.0.72 – which brings this ‘edit message feature’ – also fixes a crash that prevented users from playing within chats and status in the previous WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.4.0.70 update.
For the timelines, the ability to edit messages in up to 15 minutes, meanwhile, will be released in a future update of the app.
This new edit feature comes in handy if you want to fix any spelling or grammatical mistakes or add or remove some information.
It appears that this feature is still under development but was recently spotted on WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.4.0.72, which was released for those enrolled in the TestFlight program.
