A Faster Route Between Delhi and Dehradun
The highly anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is nearing completion, promising to cut travel time between the two cities from six hours to just two. The 212-km expressway will significantly ease road travel, improving connectivity and reducing congestion. A completed 32-km stretch from Akshardham Temple to Baghpat is set to open soon, as per media reports.
Enhanced Connectivity and Safety Measures
The expressway is designed to ensure seamless traffic flow, with foot-over bridges at key locations for pedestrian safety. It will also have a 76-km service road and 16 exit and entry points to facilitate smooth transit. However, as of now, only a small 3.4 km section has been opened, with further stretches still under construction.
Route and Key Locations
The expressway starts in Delhi and passes through several key locations, including:
- Delhi: Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, Mandola in Khekra
- Uttar Pradesh: Baghpat, Shamli, Saharanpur
- Uttarakhand: Dehradun
Additionally, it connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, improving interstate travel and economic linkages.
Massive Infrastructure Investment
Built at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore, the expressway is expected to drive economic growth by improving accessibility and boosting trade. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari previously confirmed that the project would be operational soon, providing much-needed relief to daily commuters and travellers.
