Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), Mumbai’s second airport, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to begin commercial operations soon.
Budget airline Akasa Air will launch its first flights from NMIA on December 25, 2025.

Navi Mumbai International Airport to Begin Operations with Akasa Air’s Inaugural Flights on December 25, 2025
Akasa Air announced, “Our maiden flight from Delhi to Navi Mumbai will land at NMI on 25th December 2025, marking a historic milestone. With this, Akasa Air becomes one of the first airlines to commence operations from NMIA. Get ready to enjoy the Akasa experience from Navi Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Delhi, Goa and Kochi.”
The first Akasa Air flight to NMIA will originate from New Delhi.
Other airlines, including Air India Express and Indigo, also plan to start operations from NMIA by the end of 2025.
Akasa Air stated it will connect NMIA with four Indian cities, with the maiden flight between Delhi and NMIA on December 25, 2025.
Akasa Air to Launch Scheduled Flights from NMIA to Goa, Delhi, Kochi, and Ahmedabad in December 2025
Scheduled flights will begin connecting NMIA with Goa on December 25, Delhi and Kochi on December 26, and Ahmedabad on December 31, 2025.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, said, “The commencement of operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport represents a landmark moment for Akasa Air and a defining step in India’s aviation evolution. NMIA will serve as a key enabler in establishing a dual-airport ecosystem that enhances connectivity, reliability, and choice for travellers.”
Indigo will also start operations from NMIA on December 25, 2025, connecting it to ten Indian cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Cochin, and Mangalore.
Indigo plans to gradually expand operations at NMIA by adding direct routes to more destinations over time.
