In a bold move to address Bengaluru’s chronic traffic woes, the Karnataka government has announced a 114-kilometre elevated corridor project. Designed to be built over existing roads, the corridor will allow vehicles to bypass surface-level signals and bottlenecks, drastically improving commute times across the city.

114-Kms Elevated Road Planned In Bengaluru To Ease Traffic Congestion

Key Features: Multi-Point Access and Seamless Flow
The proposed corridor will include multiple entry and exit points, giving commuters flexibility and faster navigation across various city zones. It complements the approved 16.7-km north-south tunnel road, connecting Esteem Mall (Hebbal Junction) to Central Silk Board Junction—both projects aiming to overhaul Bengaluru’s urban mobility experience.

Special Planning Around Vidhana Soudha
To avoid congestion near the state’s legislative building, the corridor is intentionally designed with no exit points within one kilometre of Vidhana Soudha. This move ensures administrative areas remain secure and less congested, even as vehicular movement intensifies in other parts of the city.

Part of ‘Brand Bengaluru’ Urban Transformation
This elevated road project is just one component of the broader ‘Brand Bengaluru’ initiative, which includes:

  • New metro lines
  • Double-decker flyovers
  • Over 700 km of road network expansion
  • A ₹4,000 crore upgrade in waste management systems

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized this model as a benchmark for urban transformation in Indian cities.

What’s Next?
According to The Times of India, tenders for the elevated corridor will be floated soon, with construction set to begin in phases. Authorities hope this project will not only decongest Bengaluru but also modernize its infrastructure to support long-term growth.

With these strategic developments, Bengaluru is poised to take a major leap toward becoming a smarter, more commuter-friendly city.
