Five Mega Placement Drives In UP

As per this initiative, they are planning to have five mega placement drives which will be organised in different cities, each covering multiple administrative divisions to maximise reach, said the officials.

Moving ahead, they plan to attract around 100 employers and nearly 20,000 job seekers with each of these events, hence making it one of the state’s most ambitious employment initiatives in recent years.

The Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is spearheading this program which is currently in the phase of finalising venues, employer participation and logistical arrangements.

This initiative builds on the state’s existing employment mobilisation framework, particularly its experience with decentralised job fairs said the officials.

Covering Entire Region Providing Lakhs Of Jobs

So far, more than 1,600 employment fairs have already been conducted, resulting in jobs for over 2.26 lakh rural youth under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana as per the government’s data.

In the upcoming fairs, they are planning to cover the entire region considering its geographical structure.

For instance, Lucknow will host candidates from the Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya and Bareilly divisions and Varanasi will bring together youth from Varanasi, Mirzapur and Prayagraj divisions.

Similarly, Muzaffarnagar will serve districts across Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh and Moradabad, forming a western Uttar Pradesh hiring hub.

Moving ahead, Jhansi will draw applicants from Jhansi, Chitrakoot and Agra divisions, while Gorakhpur will cover Gorakhpur, Basti, Devi Patan and Azamgarh.

Each of these events has been mandated to connect roughly 20,000 candidates with employers, collectively targeting one lakh placements, said Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Further adding that “This initiative is part of the state’s broader economic strategy. The objective is to create employment opportunities locally, curb migration and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s journey towards becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy,” he said.

The government is increasingly aligning skill development programmes with industry demand to improve employability outcomes, he said
