H1B Visa Quota Full For 2023: 65,000 Normal H1B, 20,000 Advanced Degree Petitions Received

Each year, the US receives a multitude of petitions under the H-1B for the highly coveted H-1B visa.

H1B Visa Quota Full For 2023: 65,000 Normal H1B, 20,000 Advanced Degree Petitions Received

It is a non-immigrant visa status for highly skilled foreign nationals, including international students, to work long-term in the United States and be given the opportunity to become employment-based immigrants and U.S. citizens.

Indian IT professionals and companies rely heavily on this visa status.

The federal agency in the US has received enough petitions, reaching the cap or limit for the H-1B visas for FY23.

According to the U. S. Congress, the country can issue 65,000 H-1B visas in a year. It issues a total of 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and another 20,000 H-1B visa U. S. advanced degree exemption categories, each year, stated PTI.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration and Services (USCIS) said in a statement last week that they have already received a sufficient number of petitions needed to reach the Congressionally mandated 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and the 20,000 H-1B visa the US advanced degree exemption, known as the master’s cap, for the fiscal year 2023.

“Petitions filed for current H-1B workers who have been counted previously against the cap, and who still retain their cap number, are exempt from the FY 2023 H-1B cap,” said the federal agency.

The entire process of being issued an H-1B visa is a tedious and time taking process. The federal agency USCIS screens all such applications each year and depending upon a number of requisites, it allots this non-immigrant visa status to desired candidates.

All the candidates who are not selected for the visa candidature, are sent non-selection notifications on their online accounts.

These registrants would be shown this message: “Not Selected: Not selected – not eligible to file an H-1B cap petition based on this registration.”
