World’s Largest Electric Car Maker (By Volume) Is Launching 3 New Electric SUVs In India!
A new electric SUV is all set to make an entry in the market, and this new SUV will be designed and developed by BYD.
BYD is the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, and this new SUV will be called Atto 3.

BYD To Launch First EV In India
With this car, BYD will be making its debut in the Indian electric automobile market. The company had launched the E6 MPV in India; however, it was only limited to fleet customers.
In the next two years, the company hopes to sell 10,000 locally assembled EVs in India.
When it comes to India, the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV will compete with the Hyundai Kona EV and the MG Motor ZS EV. The Atto 3 is expected to cost between Rs 25-30 lakhs.
Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President, BYD India, also confirmed that the company is planning to expand into the personal buyer’s space after receiving a positive response from E6 MPV corporate customers. According to Gopalakrishnan, the company is gearing up to exhibit its vehicle architecture and battery technology at the Delhi Auto Expo.
Atto 3: Specifications And Features
The battery options for the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV are 49.92 kWh and 60.48 kWh. The 49.92kWh battery pack has a range of 320 kilometers, while the 60.48kWh battery pack has a range of 420 kilometers. In terms of acceleration, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The BYD Atto 3’s motor has a power output of 201 BHP and a torque output of 310Nm.
The vehicles will be assembled close to Chennai. For those who are unfamiliar with BYD, the company is backed by Warren Buffet. In terms of EV sales from January to June 2022, BYD has surpassed Tesla globally. While BYD sold 6.4 lakh EVs in 2022 during the aforementioned period, 5.64 lakh EVs were sold between January and June of 2022.
