The heavily forested state in central India witnesses a huge inflow of tourists from not just within the country but also from overseas.

This makes it important for the state and its government to really work upon and scale-up the tourism game in Chhattisgarh.

In a bid to do so, the state government has taken a step towards leasing out its motels and resorts to private investors from within the state and other states for a period of 30 years.

Here’s everything you need to know about the development.

Chhattisgarh Govt to Lease Out 30 Motels & Resorts to Private Investors

The Chhattisgarh government owns 14 non-functional and 10 functional motels and resorts in the state, which it has decided to invite bids for leasing out.

The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board has invited bids in the form of proposals online to lease out these 24 state-owned motels and resorts from experienced private investors from the state and outside for a period of 30 years.

The proposals will be invited online from such recipients until Sept 5, 2022.

A statement from the state government, a tender for the properties floated by the government board earlier reads, “The government has approved 35% annual rent proposal by the private investors for one-time lease premium amount of Rs 15,07,777 for Mitan Motel Chathirama (Surguja) and one-time lease premium amount of Rs 25,66,899 for Mitan Motel Kodatarai (Raigarh)”, as cited by a report.

Through this initiative, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board will ramp up its tourism facilities to local and foreign tourists, while also building up more employment options to locals of the state, as per government officials.

“We, along with the government, want tourism to flourish in the state. The government’s step would infuse resource-rich facilities, which will help inflow of tourists,” stated Taranjeet Hora, the president of Chhattisgarh hotel owners’ association.
