Partner agreements finalised

It said that its network agreements are finalised and that it will work with the best technology partners from across the world to deliver the full benefits of 5G connectivity.

Multiple partners will enable Airtel to roll out 5G services spanning ultra-high-speeds, low latency and large data handling capabilities.

How users will benefit

For end users this means a superior user experience and also allows the “pursuit of new, innovative use cases with enterprise and industry customers.”

Airtel is in agreements with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung as network partners to deliver 5G services in the country.

Spectrum auction

The company’s announcement comes after the recent spectrum auditions conducted by the DoT (Department of Telecom).

Airtel had bid for and acquired 19867.8 MHZ spectrum in 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz frequency.

What about Jio, Vi?

In a peculiar case, there has been no official confirmation from rivals Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea on their 5G rollout plan.

A recent report by TelecomTalk implies that Jio chairman Akash Ambani may make an announcement on August 15, India’s 75th Independence Day.

Airtel’s rivals are far behind given that they have not given any details on their 5G roll out plans or timeline.

This indicates a high probability that all three of India’s major telecom operators will be in a race to be the first operator in the country to launch a full-scale 5G network.
