BGMI Removed From PlayStore & AppStore

Within a short span of time, Battlegrounds Mobile India managed to garner lots of popularity among the Indian users, as it is an exclusive version of PUBG Mobile designed specifically for Indian gamers.

However, since its debut in the Indian market, the game has been embroiled in controversies.

A month back, the news of a 16-year old killing his mother while playing the game, as she asked him to stop playing, did the rounds, which was picked up at the ongoing Parliamentary session.

Questions were asked to the IT Ministry on taking action against apps like PUBG where “some children have also committed crimes when they were restrained from playing the game”.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics & IT addressed this question by responding,

There are various reports and grievances received in Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), conveying that apps that were blocked are appearing with new avatar by using similar sounding names or rebranded with the same functionality. All such reports and grievances have been forwarded to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the requesting agency, for examination. MeitY follows the due process as defined in the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information by Public) Rules, 2009?.
