Hyundai Launching This New SUV In India; Price Rs 22 Lakh? Bookings Open From This Date

The fourth-generation Tucson has been launched by Hyundai in India ahead of its market launch on August 4.

It made its global debut in September 2020.

Bookings are expected to begin next week, and deliveries will begin in the coming months.

Exterior 

The styling is a major change from its predecessor.

What it gets is Hyundai’s ‘Sensual Sportiness’ design language, characterized by sharply cut surfaces and bold detailing.

The huge dark chrome grille with its jewel-like detailing, spanning the entire width of the nose and seamlessly integrating the LED Daytime Running Lamps within stands out. 

At the rear, the new Tucson gets dual T-shaped LED tail-lights that are connected via an LED light bar.

Dimensions

The Indian version is the long-wheel base iteration of the Tucson.

It measures 150mm more in length and 85mm more in wheelbase over the outgoing model, ensuring plenty of room inside.

Interior 

The dashboard gets rid of most physical controls for touch panels.

At the center is the new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s neatly integrated in the dashboard with a piano black surroundings.

Level 2 ADAS

The new Tucson is the first Hyundai in India to come with ADAS technology.

It features functions such as forward collision warning, blind spot assist, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and more. 

Other safety features include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ESC, hill-descent control and all-wheel disc brakes. 

Engine and gearbox

The new Tucson is offered with  2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines as options.

It borrows the four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol unit from the Alcazar and produces 156hp and 192Nm of peak torque.

It’s paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 186hp and 416Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The new model has no manual gearbox.

Price, competition

The prices will be announced on August 4.

However, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV will likely be priced between Rs 25 lakh – Rs 30 lakh.

It’s set to compete with the likes of Jeep Compass and the Citroen C5 Aircross, as well as higher-spec variants of the Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV700.
