Maruti Suzuki is adding to its portfolio with hatchbacks, SUVs and electric vehicles, which are likely to arrive before 2025.

Codenamed YTB, the sub-4 meter coupe-SUV crossover could take on the Tata Punch once it arrives in 2023.

Platform

It will be based on the 5th generation Heartect platform and be positioned below the Brezza in terms of cost.

The HEARTECT platform also underpins the Ignis, WagonR, S-Presso, XL6 and the Ertiga.

It is designed specifically keeping safety in mind, so YTB can be expected to feature comprehensive safety equipment.

This will help it compete against the Tata Punch which has a 5-star safety rating.

Design

Reports suggest that the crossover could be inspired by the Futuro-E Concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.

The concept bears a more flamboyant Coupe-Crossover design theme which might make its way to the vehicle on some level.

Expected Specs

It will likely be powered by a 1.2L petrol engine also found in the Baleno hatchback.

Transmission options include 5-speed MT and AMT.

Other upcoming Maruti products

The new Brezza is about to make its appearance in a week.

The carmaker is also planning to introduce new products in new segments.

Among those will be a mid-size SUV (YGF) to rival the Hyundai Creta and a 5-door Jimny to rival the Mahindra Thar aside from the Baleno-based YTB.
