There have been violent protests ever since the Prime Minister announced the Agneepath army recruitment scheme. 

These protestants have also engaged in shocking displays like targeting railway stations and setting trains on fire in Bihar and Telangana. 

The Indian Railways has therefore announced that as many as 200 trains will now be cancelled or partially terminate in order to ensure passenger safety. 35 trains have been cancelled and 15 have been short terminated. 

As per Eastern Railways’ CPRO Ekalabya Chakraborty, eight trains including the Duronto Express were affected as a part of the protests.

The South Central Railway has also cancelled Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) services.
