Hyundai Motor India has launched the Venue facelift.

The compact SUV has been long overdue for a mid-cycle update, with which it can possible take back the title of best-selling compact SUV, which it held for months after its debut.

Front

It retains the same chassis and body shell.

The major change is seen in the heavily revised front facet.

The new squarish radiator grille is finished in chrome, and is inspired by the Parametric Jewel theme as seen on the Tucson.

The vertically-split headlamp setup also sees some tweaking. 

The bumper is an all-new unit with a chunky air dam.

Side, rear

Coming to the sides, the car gets a set of new alloy wheels. 

The black cladding running across the length and roof rails is the same as the previous model. 

At the rear the vehicle gets a revamped fascia.

The boot lid now houses a light bar that connects the new tail lamps. 

The rear bumper is a reprofiled unit.

Interior

The cabin gets a new dual-tone theme with improved knee room, legroom and thigh support.

Features include:

  • Ventilated front seats
  • New flat-bottom steering wheel (from Creta)
  • A digitised instrument cluster (from the Carens)
  • Two-step reclining seats in the second row (segment-first)
  • Alexa and Google Voice Assistant support

Features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless charging, electric sunroof, cruise control, up to six airbags, and a rear view camera have been carried forward.

Safety

Its more than 30 safety features include: 

  • Six airbags
  • Automated headlamps
  • Cornering lamps
  • Rear Parking
  • Assist camera with dynamic guidelines
  • Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Variants and options 

The Venue facelift is offered in 5 variants – E, S, S+/S(O), SX, and SX(O).

It comes with three driving modes now, namely Eco, Normal, and Sport.

There are 7 paint options namely Phantom Black, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Denim Blue, Fiery Red, Fiery Red with black roof, and Titan Grey.

Powertrain, transmission

It retains its existing engine options:

  • 1.2L NA petrol available with a 5-speed MT, 83 PS/113 Nm
  • 1.0L turbo-petrol paired to a 6-speed iMT as standard and  7-speed DCT as an option, 120 PS
  • 1.5L diesel exclusively gets a 6-speed MT, 100 PS/240 Nm

Pricing, competition, deliveries

Introductory prices range from starting price of Rs 7.53 lakh.

Prices for the 1.0L turbo-petrol variants and 1.5L oil burner variants start from Rs 10 lakh.

Since these are introductory prices, a hike is expected soon.

It will rival the likes of Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV300. 

Deliveries for the new Venue will take place after the carmaker clears its backlog of 25,000 units for the old Venue.
