Toyota Will Launch 3 New SUVs, 1 MPV Before Diwali To Challenge Hyundai, Tata, Maruti In India: Full Details

Toyota is planning a slew of new releases for the Indian market this and the next year.

It has already just launched the new Glanza hatchback which will soon be available with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

In a bid to drive up sales it will launch multiple utility vehicles in the country in the next 6 months.

The list includes a new midsize SUV HyRyder, new Land Cruiser LC300 and the all-new Innova HyCross.

It is also working on the next-gen Fortuner, which will arrive in 2023 with a diesel hybrid engine.

Expect 3 different types of SUVs in the next 3-4 months.

This midsize SUV will be pitched as a rival to the Hyundai Creta.

The new Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV will be unveiled on July 1 with launch taking place likely by August-September.

It will be based on the carmaker’s TNGA-B or DNGA platform, which will also underpin Maruti’s YFG midsize SUV.

It will come with two engine options – a 1.5L petrol with mild hybrid and a 1.5L petrol with a strong hybrid unit.

The new Urban Cruiser will be based on the new Maruti Brezza, which is scheduled to be launched on June 30.

It will receive design changes, all-new interior and a new 1.5L K15C petrol engine.

Its flagship SUV, the new Land Cruiser will be introduced in the Indian market by August.

Toyota has already started accepting pre-bookings.

It is powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 305bhp and 700Nm of torque and is paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

This will be the third vehicle to arrive this year during the festive season, probably around Diwali.

This will be based on Toyota’s global TNGA-C or GA-C platform instead of a ladder-on frame chassis.

It’s likely to have a wheelbase of around 2,850mm, which is 100mm longer than the current Innova Crysta.

It will likely be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid powertrain, which could be the localised version of the new THS II (Toyota Hybrid System II).

This system has a twin-motor setup calibrated to deliver high ‘step-off’ torque and better efficiency.
