iPhone manufacturer Apple will now be introducing a new feature for iPhone users, where they will be able to swap their eSIM to a new iPhone.
Apparently, this swap of eSIM will be made possible through Bluetooth.
iPhone Users Will Be Able To Transfer eSIM Through Bluetooth
As of now, iPhone users need to get in touch with their carriers and get a new eSIM issued on the purchase of a new iPhone.
Some carriers in the US have simplified this process through QR codes in their apps however there are some carriers who ask users to go to a physical store to transfer the eSIM.
But not anymore!
A twitter user, Carson Waldrop, brought this new feature to everyone’s attention. He has stated that the iOS 16 will be supporting the transfer of eSIM cards from your current iPhone to a new iPhone through Bluetooth.
This will also enable users to transfer phone numbers easily while buying a new iPhone.
What’s The Catch?
However another Twitter account MacRumors has pointed out that the transfer of isms over Bluetooth will only be possible if the carrier supports the feature.
Currently the iOS 16 is still in beta and carrier support for the new feature is probably in the works.
Therefore we can’t say for certain how many carriers and countries would fully support this feature before the launch of iOS 16.
New iOS 16
The new OS comes with a number of upgrades including lock screen widgets, live activities, iCloud Photo Sharing and much more. With iOS 16 Apple will now stop supporting a number of old iPhones. The iPhones older than iPhone 8 won’t be getting any of the new features.
This new iOS 16 update comes with a number of upgrades and changes.
iOS 16 will now allow you to add customisable widgets on the lock screen like animated lock screen images and useful features. The Notifications / Now playing widget has been shifted to the bottom of the lock screen. There’s a ‘Live Activities’ feature as well for sports, food delivery tracking and more.
Additionally, iCloud Shared Photo Library feature has been added where people within a family can share photos with a separate iCloud library which can be up to six users. One can also choose to share existing photos from personal libraries. You can directly share an image with a new toggle in the Camera app.
