Google has now introduced new features for its video calling app Google Duo, and these features have simply flowed in from Google Meet.
Ever since Meet has been launched for everyone in 2020, Google has reportedly introduced more than 100 features and improvements.
Read on to find out which features have been introduced in Google Duo!
Google Meet Features To Be Included In Google Duo
Especially since the onset of COVID-19 and a pandemic was imposed, video calling apps have been our only way to connect with our families and friends. Work meetings were also conducted over video calling apps, such as Google Meet and Duo.
Google has made “quality and reliability improvements” to these apps and also launched new moderation controls in order to make them safe and efficient. Google has also introduced multiple features like group calls for up to 32 people, the addition of doodles, masks, and fun effects with family mode, and video calling on tablets, foldables, smart devices, and TVs.
The latest news is that Google will be updating the Duo experience, and it will include all Google Meet features. This means that users will be able to enjoy the apps as a one-stop solution for both video calling and meetings with their friends and family.
Google To Rename Duo App To Google Meet
All the Google Meet features will now be incorporated into Google Meet, which will help users schedule video meetings at a time. They can also use video calling to connect with a person or group. Google reportedly plans to rename the Duo app to Google Meet. This will result in a single video communications platform across Google that is available to everyone for free.
Duo’s features like the ability to make video calls to friends and family by phone number or email address, use fun filters and effects, send messages, and ask Google Assistant to call using existing devices will continue to be present in the app.
Also, all conversation history, contacts, and messages will be saved in the app and there will also be no new app to download.
As per Google’s official blog, Duo users will be able to enjoy the following features:
- Customize virtual backgrounds in calls and meetings
- Schedule meetings so everyone can join at a time that’s convenient for them
- Use in-meeting chat for deeper engagement
- Live share content to enable interaction with all participants on the call
- Get real-time closed captions to better support accessibility and boost participation
- Increase the size of video calls from a current limit of 32 to 100 participants
- Integrate with other tools, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Assistant, Messages and more.
